ScholarHunter Privacy Policy
DRAFT — pending review by Liu Lab, Tokyo Woman's Christian University. Not yet legally reviewed.
1. What we store about account holders
- Email address, display name, and timezone.
- Your hunts (the topics and researchers you follow) and per-item feedback.
- The briefings (reports) generated for you.
- Standard operational logs (login times, actions), retained per the schedule below.
2. Purposes
Account data is used solely to operate the service: authenticating you, scheduling and delivering your briefings, and responding to your requests. We do not sell or share personal data, except with the processors that run the service: Google Cloud (hosting and storage), our email provider (Mailgun), and our AI provider (Anthropic) — each receives only what its function requires.
3. Third-party scholarly data
Briefings compile public scholarly records about research topics and researchers (publications, public patent filings, published conference programs). This is public bibliographic data, handled under our data-boundary policy; researchers may request exclusion from person-targeted following at any time via the monitoring page.
4. Retention
- Account profile: for the life of the account; fully purged within 7 days of deletion.
- Reports: 2 years.
- Harvest/operational logs: 90 days.
- Audit log: 2 years.
- Verification tokens: 24 hours.
5. Your rights
You can export your data (JSON, from Settings) and delete your account (immediate effect; purge within 7 days) at any time, yourself, without asking us.
6. Legal basis (Japan)
Personal information of users is handled in accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). Scholarly public data of third parties is handled per the data-boundary policy above. Contact: admin@scholar-hunter.org.
7. Cookies
